WOZNIAK ANNOUNCES GRANTS FOR ARTS
PROGRAMS HARRISBURG, Nov. 19, 2009 – State Sen. John N. Wozniak today announced the release of more than $80,000 in grants for arts programs in his district. Wozniak worked with state Reps. Bryan Barbin, Gary Haluska and Frank Burns to secure funding for programs facing a difficult economy and funding challenges. “The arts are important to the quality of life in our communities and to local economies,” Wozniak said. “Preserving quality programs in a difficult economy will pay dividends.” The grants are part of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Partners in the Arts program which aims to expand constituent access to the arts by making arts programs available to communities that may have been underserved in the past by state arts funding. The grants support a wide variety of arts activities in the community, developed in a variety of local settings. The grants were awarded to: Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, Johnstown -- $5,297 Chamber Orchestra of the Alleghenies, Johnstown -- $1,261 Community Arts Center of Cambria County, Johnstown -- $8,259 Cresson Lake Playhouse, Ebensburg, $6,928 Johnstown Area Heritage Association, Johnstown -- $14,521 Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, Johnstown -- $12,908 Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance, Loretto -- $3,247 Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Loretto -- $24,941 Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown -- $5,000 Clinton County Arts Council, Lock Haven -- $1,707 Arcadia Performing Arts, Windber, $4,583 ### |
