WOZNIAK SECURES GRANT FUNDS FOR TWO
ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS HARRISBURG, April 19, 2006 – State Sen. John N. Wozniak (D-Johnstown) announced today that two projects in Clinton County would receive state funds. “These grants will ensure the health and well being of citizens in this area for years to come,” Wozniak said. “It is important that the community be able to maintain a clean environment as they live their everyday lives.” The Clinton County Solid Waste Authority will receive $3,610 to reimburse 50 percent of the costs for developing and operating a household hazardous waste collection event at the Wayne Township Landfill, Recycling Center, July 1 through December 1, 2006. The grant was awarded by the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) under the Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program. Also receiving grant funding is the Jersey Shore Water Authority. The grant of $43,158 will be used to develop local programs to protect the community’s source(s) of drinking water. Wozniak said that the program will focus on developing protection measures for surface and ground water resources through watershed enhancement and wellhand protection efforts. The grant was awarded by PADEP through the Source Water Protection grant program, which is funded by the state Drinking Water Revolving Fund. “This grant will ensure the safety of the community’s drinking water and will protect the health and safety of all citizens,” Wozniak said. |
