WOZNIAK ANNOUNCES GRANT FOR RECYCLING AT PANDYA, INC.

JOHNSTOWN, July 6 – Pandya, Inc. of Cambria County will receive a grant of $86,771 to advance the company’s use of recyclable materials in the manufacturing of composite wood products, state Sen. John N. Wozniak announced today.

“These grants recognize manufacturers and other businesses that have made smart recycling choices,” Wozniak said. “It is definitely possible to use new technology and new production techniques and still be ‘environmentally friendly.’”

The funding for Pandya, Inc. will be distributed as part of the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Recycling Markets Infrastructure Development Grant Program.

These grants are given to Pennsylvania businesses and non-profit organizations with the dual aims of building strong markets for recycled materials across the state and of encouraging increased use of recyclable materials in the manufacturing of finished products.

“Pandya, Inc. works with our county recycling coordinators to collect recyclable materials, and turns these into 100-percent recyclable composite wood,” Wozniak added.

Founded in 1982 in Ebensburg, Pandya, Inc. began as a computer company, but has steadily expanded into other types of cutting-edge technology. Pandya’s “Green Division,” based in Davidsville, Pa., has been manufacturing 100-percent recyclable composite wood since 2004. The composite lumber can be used for constructing: landscape edging, sign posts, fence posts, woodland steps, retaining walls, planters, water edging, parking bumpers and walkway steps.
